How to Read a Zoning Map

Zoning determines what, where, and how much you can build.

Reading the Map

Color-coded districts: yellow (low-density residential), orange (medium-density), red (high-density), blue (commercial), gray (industrial), green (agricultural).

Dimensional Standards

Setbacks (front, side, rear), FAR (0.5 to 4.0+), height limits (35 ft residential to 75+ ft high-rise), lot coverage.

Overlay Districts

Historic preservation, TOD, PUD, hillside/steep slope overlays modify base zoning.
